Kurt Vile Day at City Hall in Philadelphia, Performs and Accepts Prestigious Liberty Bell Award

Hundreds of people gathered on a wet and damp day Wednesday, August 28th at City Hall in Center City of Philadelphia for the inaugural Kurt Vile Day and to watch the singer/songwriter receive the prestigious Liberty Bell Award and perform an acoustic set of songs. The show was also the finale of the City Hall Presents series, having artists perform music, spoken word, comedy and more in the iconic and legendary courtyard of the City Hall of Philadelphia. Upon receiving the award, which is a miniature model of the Liberty Bell (and it actually rings!), Kurt rang the bell in exclamation saying, "She's beautiful!"

Afterwards Kurt played a solo set of acoustic songs spanning throughout his career, opening with the first song off his new record, "Wakin' On A Pretty Day." The set sounded superb with vocals and acoustic guitar in the walls of City Hall reverberating throughout the building's walls. Playing a total of ten songs, the crowd were left dazzled and in awe of such immense talent. Catch full band Kurt Vile and The Violators at the Union Transfer on Saturday, October 26th.

Check out the setlist and video of Kurt Vile accepting the award below and photos from the event at the gallery here.
