Giant steel beams from the World Trade Center have been returned home where they were created. The beams resembling huge tuning forks were visible to the world after the terrorist attacks in New York brought down the Twin Towers. They were built by Lukens Steel and yesterday one of 10 of the steel trees was unveiled at the National Iron and Steel Heritage Museum in Coatesville.

A 14 year old girl has reported she was raped at a South Philadelphia recreation center. The incident was reported yesterday at the Vare Rec Center where she says she was assaulted in the ladies room near the front door of the center. Police are reviewing surveillance video from cameras installed there last year.

Philadelphia City Council has introduced a plan to give the school district $50 million for unused buildings, then sell them to recover the cost. Council President Darrell Clarke likes the idea. Mayor Michael Nutter does not. The Mayor is soliciting donations from local businesses to help pay for school supplies the cash strapped system cannot.

Sports
Roy Halladay and the Phillies close the series with the San Diego Padres tonight.

Weather
Heavy Thunderstorms are possible this afternoon. 84 in Center City.
