The fire was brought under control overnight and stopped spreading when firefighters cut a 20 foot wide gap in the brand new boardwalk, just replaced after Superstorm Sandy.

SEPTA is developing a plan to eliminate rail lines, subway service and trolley routes if it does not get the state funding it requested. Governor Corbett’s proposal for an additional $1.8 billion has not yet been approved. SEPTA has asked for $6.5 billion over the next 10 years to put the entire system into good repair.

The suit is being filed by the family of Roseline Conteh, who was one of six who died in the Salvation Army store at 22nd and Market. Conteh was a 52 year old immigrant from Sierra Leone and mother of eight.
