A Philadelphia man has been arrested for stealing more than $156,000 from Victory Fellowship Church in Lower Providence Township while working as a bookkeeper for the church. James Lee Moody was employed from May 2011 to May 2013. Moody had the church's payroll company make regularly scheduled deposits into his personal credit union accounts. Meanwhile, the church was paying him directly for his work managing it's finances. He is charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of funds, theft by deception, unlawful use of computer and other charges. Prosecutors also say that he committed identity fraud when he was hired. Moody provided a false social security number, date of birth, and Pennsylvania Driver's license number in an effort to hide a prior conviction. He spent time in Montgomery County jail for stealing more than $21,000 as controller of the county’s Special Olympics organization. He is being held of $250,000 cash bail.

A Lansdowne, Delaware County man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for threatening over Twitter to rape a local TV meteorologist and kill her and her child. 30-year-old Justin Vernot made the threats against CBS 3's Kate Bilo in February 2012. The messages also said that he knew their routine and would kill her in front of her son. U.S. District Judge Paul Diamond exceeded both the federal guidelines and prosecution’s recommendations in handing out the sentence. The judge pointed to Vernot's intent to “inflict sever distress” on his targets which also included two children with terminal illnesses. Vernot's defense claims that a brain injury as a result of a drug-induced blackout has compromised his judgement. Diamond dismissed that notion saying, “You weren't in a fog. You weren't asleep.” Evidence also shows that Vernot used a proxy server to send then messages in an effort to hide his tracks.

A 19-year-old Lehigh University football player has charged with kicking a man in the face outside of a bar in Bethleham early Wednesday. Russhon Phillips, a sophomore defensive back from Plymouth Meeting, Pa., was arrested about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault and related offenses. Phillips kicked 22-year-old Paul Graham in the face while Graham was on the ground. Graham was treated for a facial fracture and other injuries. Phillips is in jail on $75,000 bail. He told police he had been drinking. Lehigh Coach Andy Coen said Wednesday that four football players have been suspended from the team.
