UD Rugby Team Suspended, LM Native Escapes Kenya Mall, New Castle Amber Alert

The University of Delaware Rugby Team has been suspended for five years following a disorderly party in Newark. Newark Police say officers responded to a disorderly party in the 400 block of South College Avenue on September 9th. They arrested both the residents for disorderly premises and some other related charges. While officers were dispersing the disorderly crowd, police say the mob began blocking traffic on South College Avenue and walking on the hoods of cars.

A Delaware Valley native and his young daughter were inside a Kenyan mall when an armed siege of the building began. Nick Handler was sitting with his young daughter inside a cafe in the mall when the siege began. After hearing an explosion and gunshots, sitting by the café door, Nick reached over, grabbed his daughter and ran out the front door of that café safely escaping. Handler, who grew up in Lower Merion, is a 1999 graduate of Lower Merion High School.

The Delaware State Police have activated an amber alert for the New Castle County Police Department investigating the possible abduction of a juvenile, described as a white female 10-to-12 years of age. The incident happened in the community of Whispering Pines Townhomes, in Newark. Witnesses have reported that the girl was abducted while walking and pulled into an older unknown make or model SUV, white in color, with rear dark tinted windows, and a roof rack.
