Shutdown Affects Tourism, Coatesville Harassment Claims, Trash Set Out Time Rvised

If the government shuts down, the mail will continue to be delivered and airports will continue to function. However national parks will close. That includes the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the Smithsonian, the Statue of Liberty, Alcatraz and the Washington Monument. Congress has until midnight tonight to avert a shutdown.

According to the lawyer representing the Coatesville Area administrators who blew the whistle in the racist and sexist text messaging scandal, his clients are being harassed by the acting superintendent. Attorney Sam Stretton’s claims are ridiculous according to school board president Neil Campbell who says the board is following strict policy regarding litigation situations.

This week, Philadelphia residents can put their trash out at the curb a couple of hours earlier the night before collection. The 7 pm limit places hardship on seniors in the winter who don’t want to put their trash out in the dark. So from October through April the set-out time will be moved back to 5 pm, then back to 7 pm in the Spring.

Sports
The Phillies season is over. The Eagles face the winless Giants next.

Weather
Mix of Sun and Clouds. 75 in Center City.
