Investigators say an unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night in Port Richmond at the 3500 block of Aramingo Avenue. Philadelphia Police say a man in his 50's was struck by a female driving northbound on Aramingo Avenue. Investigators say the driver stopped at the scene. The victim was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A federal grant is helping the new police force in Camden to put more officers on the beat. A three-year, $2.3 million grant from the feds will allow the Camden County Police force to hire ten more officers. The county applied for, and received a Community Oriented Police Services. Once the ten officers are hired and trained, the Metro Police Division patrolling Camden will be up to 411 officers strong.

The female half of the couple, that led police in Camden and Philadelphia on a wild and dangerous ride in March, has been sentenced to prison. Shayna Sykes, who was high on heroin and cocaine at the time of the crimes, has been sentenced to three to eight years in prison. Sykes, along with her boyfriend stole a police car in Camden, fled over to Philadelphia, were stopped by Philadelphia Police, and stole another police cruiser leading to a crash.

Weather, October 1
