El Wingador Sentenced to 7 years; 13 Hospitalized in AC crash; October 80's Continue this weekend

Local competitive eating champion, 'El Wingador,' has been sentenced to 7 years in prison on cocaine charges. William Simmons, 51, of Woodbury Heights, NJ, pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine back in July. He was arrested in June 2012 in an undercover sting with around $8,000 worth of the drug and $4,000 in cash. Simmons has been apologetic since his arrest. He will be able to apply to an intensive supervision program which could significantly shorten his prison term.

Thirteen people were hospitalized after an accident involving a bus and two other vehicles this afternoon in Atlantic City. A Dodge Intrepid sedan traveling east on Arctic Ave collided with a Ford Excursion SUV going south on Virginia Ave at around 2 pm. The sedan was then pinned between the SUV and a NJ Transit bus that was picking up a wheelchair passenger. Emergency crews had to rescue three passengers from the sedan with the Jaws of Life. 8 passengers from the bus and 5 from the cars had to be hospitalized for their injures. They were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

Today was the 4th day in a row with 80 degree weather, that's 15 degrees above average for the first week of October. Many locations saw record highs. This weekend is going to be no different. Both Saturday and Sunday are going to be warm and humid with daytime highs of 85 and nighttime lows of 65. Get out and enjoy it! Monday will be very different as the remnants of Tropical Storm Karen move up from the Gulf. Expect it to be very wet from all that tropical moisture.

Tonight, partly cloudy temperatures in the 70's this evening in Center City.
