A Philadelphia area couple was turned away from the cemetery at Normandy, closed as a result of the U.S. Government shutdown. Robert and Nancy Foxx from Merion planned on spending a few days of their trip to France at Normandy. They were permitted onto the beaches, the site of the D-Day invasion, but were disappointed when the gates to the cemetery were locked.

A school in the Philadelphia area has decided to cancel Halloween celebrations and many parents and kids are none too happy about it. Inglewood Elementary School in the North Penn School District sent a letter home announcing No Halloween Parade or Celebrations. It says it is being mindful of all members of the community who disagree with holidays that may have religious undertones.

The Jersey Shore is under alert for coastal flooding over the next few days. The National Weather Service has issued coastal flood watches and advisories for much of South Jersey. Rain from a slow moving coastal storm moves in tonight and may hang around until Saturday producing the heaviest rains Thursday into Friday.

MLB Playoffs Pirates and the Cardinals in a deciding Game 5 tonight.
