PA Drops Security for Wife of Lt Gov, Detective Investigated in Murder Cases, Cell Phone Kiosk Ban

PA State Police are dropping round the clock security for the wife of Lt. Governor Jim Cawley at the Cawley's request. Suzanne Cawley resumed work in May as a full time real estate agent in New York. From July through September it cost the Commonwealth $81,000 in travel expenses. That’s $20,000 more than it cost to protect her husband.

Philadelphia homicide detective, Ron Dove is being investigated for his role in covering up evidence in three murder cases and the disappearance of another man. Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey removed the 16 year veteran earlier this month after Dove allegedly helped his girlfriend, Erica Sanchez, a murder suspect, leave the state. Internal Affairs is looking into Dove’s connection to other murders.

As Philadelphia considers banning used cell phone kiosks that pay people for old phones, City Council will hear arguments from the company who runs them, EcoATM. The concern is that these kiosks provide fast and easy cash for cell phone thieves. The kiosk company says the machines have deterrents, collecting thumbprints and signatures, which scares many thieves away.
