Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy’s landfall on the Jersey Shore. One year ago, New Jersey Governor Christie warned people not to take the storm lightly. As a result of Sandy, 125 people lost their lives. Thousands lost their homes and possessions. Damage from Superstorm Sandy eclipsed $65 billion in the United States.

A new medical marijuana dispensary opened today in New Jersey. The Compassionate Care Foundation’s new facility in Egg Harbor Township is where people with one of 8 debilitating diseases, including MS and ALS will go to pick up their medication. Each patient can buy up to 2 ounces per month and so far, 600 patients have signed up.

Villanova University is well on its way to its capital campaign fundraising goal of $600 million thanks to a $50 million gift from 1981 alumnus and board member Jim Davis who started the Allegis Group, the country’s largest private staffing-services company. The fundraising effort, “For the Greater Great: The Villanova Campaign to Ignite Change” is almost halfway to his goal and will run through 2018.
