Earlier today from the White House President Obama announced changes to the heath care law that will allow insurance companies to keep offering heath care plans that would have been canceled for an additional one year. The president bowed to pressure, even from within his own party, to come up with a fix. However, insurance companies who have already canceled polices don't have to re-offer those plans. This evening the president is in our area. He made an appearance at a Democratic fundraising event at the home of David L. Cohen Executive Vice President of Comcast in Mount Airy. A modest donation between $10,000 to $32,400 would have gotten you entrance to the event.

The chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Committee has resigned after being accused of sexually assaulting a female coworker. 66-year-old Robert J. Kerns submitted his resignation to the MCRC effective today. The incident happened after a party in late October in Kerns' car. Kerns is a partner in the firm of Kerns, Pearlstine, Onorato & Hladik. Vice Chair Sharon Valentine Thomas will fill the position until a special meeting is held Dec 4th to fill the spot. No charges have been filed. He is married and has three children.

The Philadelphia Business Journal is reporting that the King of Prussia Mall is adding 8 new stores, 4 of which will be open this month, just in time for holiday shopping. Look out for preppy outfitter Vineyard Vines, Italian footwear seller Carlo Pazolini, Victoria’s Secret’s PINK loungewear brand and jewelry store Pandora to open in November. Coming this spring the other four stores include swim- and resort-wear retailer Everything But Water, fine jeweler Helzberg Diamonds, Chipotle Mexican Grill and the frozen-yogurt chain Pinkberry.
