Grand Jury Indicts Contractor in Building Collapse; Bucks County Teenage Rapist Tried as Adult

A Philadelphia grand jury has indicted Griffin Campbell, the owner of the company in charge of the demolition of the building near 22nd and Market Streets that collapsed on the adjacent Salvation Army thrift store. That building collapse last June killed six people and injured more than a dozen others. Campbell is being charged with third-degree murder and six counts of involuntary manslaughter, and related crimes. The grand jury stated that Campbell knew the risk of danger and ignored warnings. Sean Benschop, the crane operator, had previously been arrested and charged with six counts of involuntary manslaughter.

A judge in Bucks County has ruled that an accused teenage serial rapist will be tried as adult for the five sexual assaults that he allegedly committed as a juvenile. Josh Benson of Bensalem, now 18, has been certified as an adult in five assaults he is accused of committed while 16 and 17. He faces seven total counts, and was charged with an eighth last Friday. He remains behind bars on $5 million bail.
