Holiday shoppers were out at the last minute today all around the Delaware Valley. The Italian market was a popular venue as locals stocked up on antipasto, pastries, and fish for the traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes. Bakeries were also doing brisk business serving fresh pies, bread and other baked good to customers for holiday meals. The malls were open into the early evening for all those people cramming in some last minute shopping. Procrastination could have been a good strategy because there were some deep discounts being offered at many retailers.

City officials say repairs to the burst water main near Frankford and Torresdale avenues make take months to complete. The break happened on a 48-inch transmission line at 9 a.m. causing 23 million gallons of water to flow out into the street. Dozens of schools were closed as were area businesses. Water pressure was effected throughout a large area. Water department crews still need several days to clean the site before repairs can begin.

Pope Francis said his first Christmas Eve Mass as pontiff this evening in St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. His message to the faithful gathered focused of the humble beginnings of Jesus surrounding his birth. "You are immense, and you made yourself small; you are rich, and you made yourself poor; you are all-powerful and you made yourself vulnerable," he said during his homily. He pointed out that the first to receive the news were shepards, who were among the lowest cast in society. Francis' young papacy has been highlighted by humility and attention to the poor and outcast.

Tonight, mostly clear, chance of snow showers, temperatures in low 30's this evening in Center City

Last minute shopping at Franklin Mills Mall. Standing in line to see Santa.
