The Philadelphia Eagles did what no one expected them to do last night. They won the NFC East Division by escaping Dallas with a 24-22 victory at AT&T Stadium, thanks to a late fourth-quarter interception by Brandon Boykin. LeSean McCoy finalized an incredible season with 1,607 yards rushing, becoming the first Eagle to lead the NFL in rushing since Hall of Famer Steve Van Buren in 1949. McCoy rushed through Dallas for 131 yards and one touchdown (breaking Wilbert Montgomery’s previous mark of 1,512 in 1979). The No. 3 seed Eagles host the No. 6 seed New Orleans Saints in the wildcard round at 8 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field.

Flu season appears to be in full swing in Pennsylvania, with health officials reporting outbreaks in at least half the regions of the state. The hardest-hit areas are in western Pennsylvania. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, last year’s flu season landed about 381,000 people in the hospital nationwide. A contributing factor: The flu vaccine was only 51 percent effective overall.

Police are investigating a strong armed robbery that occurred in a motel parking lot Sunday morning in Bear, Delaware at the Afton Motel on the 700 block of Pulaski Highway. A motel employee was approached in his car by two suspects who demanded money. The suspects reportedly pushed the victim then took a motel deposit bag from the car that contained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene. The victim was not injured.
