Probably the biggest snow removal effort short of PennDOT is happening down in South Philly at Lincoln Financial Field. 400 workers from American Winter Services and local unions descended upon the Linc to clear out all the snow in time for tomorrow night's Eagles' playoff game. Bracing the bitter cold and winds the crews headed into the stands to shovel the snow to chutes that send the snow down to field level. It is then pick up in front end loaders and out to dump trucks. The trucks take it over to the old airport at the Navy Yard where it is dumped. They started at 7:30 am and expect to finish at midnight. There is an estimated 2-3 million lbs of snow to be removed. This crew has been doing this since 2003. You may recall the rush to clear the stadium before the NFC Championship in 2004.

The Philadelphia Streets department is still hard at work clearing city streets. They were at work all night plowing and salting and will continue those efforts in every neighborhood through the weekend. Philadelphia streets commissioner Dave Perri says that they hope to have primary and secondary streets down to blacktop in travel lanes. Mayor Nutter added that all city's streets will be hit at least once before the day is done. He also added that residents shouldn't throw snow into the streets when digging out cars or shoveling sidewalks.

Monsignor William Lynn was released from Philadelphia County prison today. Before his release he was fitted with an electronic monitoring device. On condition of his release he must stay within the the city boundaries. Lynn is staying with an unnamed relative until his Monday hearing in front on Judge Teresa Sarmina.

We are broadcasting the Blue Apple Groove CD release show LIVE from the Ardmore Music Hall at 8pm tonight

Tonight,
Clear Skies, temperatures in the teens this evening, down to single digits overnight in Center City.
