Authorities have identified the 13-year-old boy who they say was fatally shot during an altercation Wednesday afternoon in Atlantic City. The victim was Angel Mercado-Santiago, of Atlantic City. On Wednesday at about 3 p.m., Atlantic City Police responded to the scene of a shooting near the intersection of Route 30 and Virginia Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found two teen males, ages 13 and 15, suffering from gunshot wounds. No arrests have yet been made.

Six New Jersey residents have filed a federal lawsuit against Gov. Chris Christie, the state of New Jersey, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and others over traffic jams in September. The suit filed in federal court Thursday appears to be the first civil claim over traffic jams that appear to have been caused as political punishment for the Fort Lee mayor. The plaintiffs want it certified as a class action.
Christie has denied involvement.

Hall of Fame sports columnist Bill Conlin, who resigned from the Daily News two years ago amid allegations he sexually abused children, has died. Bill Conlin died Wednesday at a Florida hospital. Conlin’s Hall of Fame career as a Philadelphia Daily News columnist came to an abrupt end in December 2011 when four relatives accused him of sexually molesting them in the 1970s when they were children. Conlin was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011. Bill Conlin was 79.
