Philadelphia Police say Monday afternoon., a detective was in the area of 1600 South Corlies Street to serve a warrant with the Attorney General's Office, when he saw a man who appeared to be carrying a rifle. When the detective approached the man, he allegedly pointed the rifle at the detective, and the detective then discharged his Glock, never striking the man.
The man dropped the rifle then fled on foot, and was later apprehended. The officer will be on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.

The death of a woman found in a central Pennsylvania wildlife refuge has been ruled a homicide. Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman said the woman’s body was found by a hiker late Sunday afternoon at the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Clay Township. County coroner Stephen Diamantoni on Monday said the body “suffered substantial trauma” and appeared to have been outside for several days. Diamantoni said dental records are being examined in an effort to identify the victim.

A 41-year-old Chester County man, with a long criminal record, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for a counterfeit Rolex scam that took in millions of dollars over several years. Federal prosecutor Nancy Rue says defendant Christopher Veit generally charged between $300 and $500 dollars for watches, fake Rolexes, which he promised were high quality replicas. Rue says Veit continued the criminal activity against Rolex for years even after an $8 million judgment against him, and the defendant in court described it as a cat and mouse game with Rolex.
