The University of Pennsylvania freshman, Madison Holleran, who fell to her death had been struggling to cope with the pressures of academics and was losing confidence in her abilities as an athlete on Penn's track team. According to her dad, the 19 year old from North Jersey had seen a therapist at his urging. He described her as "a tough kid, stubborn, strong-willed, a perfectionist." She finished the first semester with a 3.5 GPA. James Holleran says his daughter left a note and gifts for her family before she jumped from a parking garage at 15th and Spruce.

A student was shot on the campus of Widener University in Chester County last night. The shooter is still on the loose as police review surveillance video. Police with K-9 units were combing campus this morning. Investigators are saying this was not a random shooting. The victim was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center and is in stable condition.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect through Wednesday morning at 6 am. Some areas will get a foot or more of snow before it’s all over tomorrow morning. The heaviest snowfall will be south and east of the city. The storm is intensifying as it picks up moisture from the ocean and northeast winds up to 40 miles per hour are making travel extremely treacherous.

Sports

Weather
Snow today. 6 to 12 inches in most areas. 26 in Center City.
