The Winter Storm continues to slam the region with heavy snow, increasing winds, and bitter temperatures. The entire area can see anywhere from 6-12 inches of snow. Philadelphia Public and Archdiocesan schools will be closed on Wednesday. Philadelphia has declared a Snow Emergency which means you have to move your cars if you live on a designated street. Click here for designated streets. There will be discounts at PPA garages downtown during emergency. States of Emergency have been declared in New Jersey and Delaware. That means stay home if you don't need to be out on the road.

The two men held for questioning as persons-of-interest in the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Amber Long in Northern Liberties on Sunday night have been released. Instead the tipster, 44-year-old Lamar Beatty, has been arrested and charged with falsifying reports. Beatty contacted police early Monday morning leading them to a house on North Camac Street in Fern Rock where he told them the two suspects were inside with Long's mother's purse, credit cards and a gun. After police searched the house and questioned the residents they found nothing and determined these persons had nothing to do with the crime. Beatty admitted to implicating them for other reasons. The city is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to arrests and convictions in this case.

The winter storm is causing delays throughout the area. Over 500 flights have been canceled at Philadelphia International Airport. SEPTA is hoping to avoid a system wide shutdown that would only occur if there are accumulations over a foot. They are experiencing delays of 60 minutes on all services. Amtrak is also experiencing delays but is operating on a normal schedule. Traffic and accidents are causing delays across the city. Even Delaware Governor Jack Markell helped a stranded motorist jump his car during this storm while he was making a travel stop after declaring a state of emergency in Delaware.
