Federal prosecutors have decided not to continue to pursue the remaining racketeering and gambling charges against reputed mob boss Joseph Ligambi. Ligambi was acquitted last week of witness tampering while the jury deadlocked on three other charges in the retrial. He faced a third trial, but the U.S. Attorney filed a motion Monday seeking to dismiss the remaining counts. Ligambi was accused of collecting small gambling debts and loans and illegally operating video poker machines at neighborhood bars in South Philadelphia.

Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams announced that charges have been filed against State representative Jose “JP” Miranda and his sister Michelle Wilson. They are charged with criminal conspiracy, perjury, and conflict of interest. Miranda hired a “ghost” employee so that Wilson could continue work as his chief of staff despite state nepotism laws. After the House Democratic Caucus ordered Miranda remove Wilson from the payroll he hired Timothy Duckett, a former driver, as a legislative assistant. Duckett was required to do little work and would give a portion of his pay to Wilson would continued in the role of chief of staff. The investigation began after FOX 29 investigators caught Duckett spending his time at his Philadelphia auto repair shop while supposedly being paid by the state representative. Williams said Miranda and Wilson are expected to surrender to authorities in the next few days.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s office is asking the public's help in identifying the body of a woman found along the Delaware River shoreline in West Deptford, NJ. On January 15th a helicopter pilot spotted the body near the Wheelabrator solid waste disposal property. The white female is described as being between the ages of 30 and 60, 5'5” to 5'7”, 160 to 180 pounds. She had salt-and-pepper hair that appeared to be dyed brown. The body was found was wearing an XL black hooded, fur-line “Seventy-Seven” jacket (see below), gray, hooded “ENYCE” sweatshirt, blue “Destiny” denim jacket, a blue “Cellucap” Tyvek shire, similar to hospital attire, blue “Liz Claiborne” cotton pants, New Balance sneakers, and brown socks with rubber grips, similar to hospital attire. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Anthony Garbarino at the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office at 856-384-5619.
