Philadelphia Casino License, Chinese Food Deliveryman Shot, Harry Gamble Passes

The final round of hearings for Philadelphia's second casino license began Tuesday. Gaming Control Board Spokesman Doug Harbach says it is conceivable the board would elect not to license a second casino in Philadelphia. He also says it could deadlock, since the license is awarded not by a simple majority of the seven-member board: the law requires all four legislative appointees, plus one of the governor's appointees, to agree on who gets the license.

Philadelphia Police are searching for suspects who shot a Chinese food deliveryman in Northeast Philadelphia. It happened at about 7:37 p.m. Tuesday in the 6200 block of Kindred Street in Oxford Circle. Philadelphia Police say the victim was making a delivery when he was robbed and shot once in the left side. He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Former Eagles general manager Harry Gamble has died. Gamble was the team’s general manager from 1985 until 1995. His son, Tom, is currently the team’s vice president of player personnel. Harry Gamble was also head football coach at University of Pennsylvania from 1971 until 1980. Gamble’s credits also include head coach of Lafayette’s football team, and head coach at both Clayton and Audubon’s high school. Gamble passed away Tuesday morning.
