PGW Gas Explosion, Villages at Pine Valley Fire, Super Bowl Human Trafficking

Two PGW workers were injured after a gas explosion sparked a fire in South Philadelphia on the 1800 block of South Bancroft Street. Their injuries are not considered life threatening. The American Red Cross says at least three families are displaced.

A fire tore through the upper level of an apartment complex in Northeast Philadelphia, leaving 47 people displaced. The fire broke out shortly after 3:30 Thursday on the fourth floor of vacant apartment in the 200 block of Ernest Way. Firefighters believe it started on the balcony being worked on at the time at the Villages At Pine Valley, an active adult living community.

As New Jersey gears up for Sunday’s Super Bowl, authorities are shining a light on the darker side to the big game — human trafficking. Authorities in South Jersey are using a newly enhanced statute to crack down on human trafficking. Police are making arrests.
And to protect the young and vulnerable from the sex trade during the busy Super Bowl weekend, Governor Chris Christie says their task force is in full effect.
