Shirley Temple Dies, Traffic Jam Victims Protest, Snowstorm Wednesday Through Thursday

Shirley Temple has died. The child actress with curly hair and dimples won the hearts of movie-goers in the thirties, topping box offices from 1935 to 1938. Her movies included "Heidi," "Curly Top" and "The Littlest Rebel." Generations learned to sing "On the Good Ship Lollipop" and to this day her name is still on a sweet, non-alcoholic drink. Ginger ale and grenadine, topped with a maraschino cherry. Shirley Temple died at home in San Francisco at 85.

There was a protest by the self-proclaimed victims of the Fort Lee lane closures. Two progressive activist groups who want Governor Christie to resign over the traffic jam, sponsored a news conference at the base of the George Washington Bridge. Victims attending plan to share their stories about sitting in the traffic jam.

Another snow storm is bearing down on the Philadelphia region. This one is shaping up to be a Nor’easter that could bring a foot of snow to some areas. The snow, sleet, freezing rain mix will make travel tough and could bring down more trees already weakened by last week’s storm. You have a day to prepare. The storm starts tomorrow evening and continues all day Thursday.

Sports
Today in Sochi, American snowboarder Shaun White goes for his third consecutive Olympic Gold Medal in the Halfpipe.

Weather
Clear skies. 27 in Center City.
