Winter Storm Warning For Philadelphia, 11th Storm This Winter, Salt Supply Dwindling

The next winter storm is approaching, Philadelphia's 11th storm of the season. It's a good idea to be ready to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours going into this storm. That means ample food, drink, personal items, gasoline and anything else you use every day. Be prepared in case it’s worse than the forecasted 6 to 10 inches.

Winter storm warnings go into effect late tonight through early Friday for the entire Philadelphia region. This is a classic Nor’easter and depending on where it tracks as it comes up the coast will determine how much snow, sleet, freezing rain or rain you get. And a few miles can make a big difference. Looks like Philadelphia will get 6 inches. Less in New Jersey and up to a foot north and west of the city.

PECO has everyone reconnected after last week’s ice storms and most roads are now passable. Just in time for our next winter disturbance. Winter Storm Warnings again have many towns concerned about road salt shortages. Most towns in the Philadelphia region have already used up their salt supplies and labor budgets for snow removal. Some towns are will stretch supplies by only treating the main roads.

Sports
Tonight the 76ers are in Utah. #6 Villanova visits DePaul. And Phillies Spring Training starts tomorrow in Florida.

Weather
Cloudy. Heavy, wet snow starts tonight. 30 in Center City.
