No $10k for West Chester Halftime Shot; Fake Guns in Instagram Videos; Camden Shooting Tattoo Parlor

A West Chester University student who hit a half-court shot during a halftime challenge during a game on campus Saturday night will not be getting the $10,000 prize. 18-year-old freshman Jack Lavery was picked to participate in the promotion - make four different shots in 25 seconds - during halftime against Shippensburg University. Lavery made the layup, free throw, and three-pointer easily. His first attempt at the half-court shot came up short, and with time winding down he retrieved the ball and hustled back to launch a one-handed shot that banked in at the sound of the buzzer. The crowd burst in the cheers. However, per the rules of the contest that Lavery signed before taking the court. "I shall have as many opportunities as necessary at each of the first three (3) locations to make a shot; however, no more than ONE (1) attempt may be made at the HALF COURT shot, provided that there is still time left on the shot clock." You can only have one attempt at the half court shot. He took two, so the heroics unfortunately don't count or pay off.

Philadelphia Police are investigating a series of videos posted on Instagram that shows a group of men intimidating and harassing residents with fake firearms as a joke. The videos are shot from the men's vehicle. They approach their random victim and then talk to, call out to, or make demands of the citizen. They then pull out their fake weapons and point them at the victims, startling them to fall, run, and panic. The videos end with the two men driving off laughing. Some of the victims have filed police reports regarding the incidents. A statement from the creator of the videos left on the Instagram account. “All of this is jokes,” he says. “I’m not out here really robbing people. I’m not out here really shooting people. I could be doing that. That’s the s**t I’m trying to leave behind.” Police are investigating.

Camden Police are investigating a shooting this afternoon that left a 39-year-old man dead and a 12-year-old boy injured. It happened at 1:30 p.m. inside a home in the 2100 block of Sewell Street. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The boy was taken to Cooper University Hospital for surgery. An unlicensed tattoo parlor was being run out of the home by the 39-year-old. He was expecting customers this afternoon. The shooter is believed to be a customer although the motive is still unclear.

UPDATE: 21-year-old Daron Stinson, the alleged prankster, has turned himself in to Central Detectives on Monday night.
