The widow of longtime Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has been hospitalized after a fall. Paterno family spokesman Dan McGinn said Sue Paterno fell on campus while going to a memorial service on Thursday and she’s hospitalized for observation. She is expected to be released from the hospital in a day or two.

A committee of the Philadelphia Historical Commission grappled with a tough question, but recommended that a developer be granted a ‘hardship’ demolition to gut most of the interior of the historic Boyd Theater, to redevelop it. The committee voted 3-0 with two people abstaining to recommend that the full Historical Commission approve a developer’s plan to demolish a large portion of the interior to install an 8-screen movie theater and restaurant.

Thursday, a 26-year-old man told a Philadelphia jury he was sexually assaulted by a parish priest when he was a 10-year-old altar boy at St. John Cantius in Bridesburg in 1997. The alleged victim says Father Andrew McCormick recruited him to be an altar boy and then sexually assaulted him after an evening mass. The defendant has pleaded not guilty and the defense has challenged the alleged victim’s credibility suggesting inconsistencies and discrepancies in his statements and testimony.
