Villanova St Joe's Rematch Possible, SEPTA Cop Injured, Kerns Charges Dropped

Early excitement around the NCAA men's basketball tournament centers around a potential rematch between Villanova and St. Joe's in the third round. The Philadelphia City Six rivals played this season in a lopsided 30 point win for Villanova. St. Joe's fans would love another shot at Villanova in a tournament version of the Holy War.

A SEPTA police officer was injured yesterday on the Broad Street line after a violent struggle with a man who claimed to be armed. The attacker escaped the struggle, then tried to grab a baby from its mother’s arms. Backup arrived and the suspect was arrested for aggravated assault on a police officer.

Montgomery County prosecutors dropped all charges against Robert J. Kerns related to the former county Republican Party chairman’s accusations of drugging and sexually assaulting an employee of his law firm after an office party. The case fell apart after lab reports showed that there were no traces of the sleep drug, Ambien in her system.
