Valley Forge Backup, First Day of Spring-FREE Rita's, Hite Only Took Pay Cut

Valley Forge Park is a good place to avoid right now as roads remain closed or restricted due to the sewer main rupture that spilled about 5 million gallons of raw sewage onto roads and into Valley Creek. The main break happened near Routes 252 and 23 in Upper Merion Township. Waste water flowed into the creek for 30 hours. Authorities hope the high water from this winter will help dilute the potential damage to the fish and wildlife population.

It has finally arrived. Spring is here. After one tough Winter, today marks the first day of Spring. And you know what that means – FREE Rita’s! In keeping with a tradition now 22 years old, Rita’s locations will give away FREE water ice all day at their locations around Philadelphia. Get there before 9 tonight. You may want to try their new flavor, Starburst Cherry Italian Ice.

Philadelphia School Superintendent was the only school official to take a pay cut in the attempt to get the system back on its feet. William R. Hite took a 10% pay cut amid layoffs when 10 high ranking administrators promised to share the burden. According to a list released this week on Watchdog.org, Hite took the voluntary cut but the 9 others did not.

Sports
NCAA Tournament – Delaware battling Michigan State this afternoon, tonight St. Joe’s takes on Connecticut and later Villanova plays Milwaukee.
