Authorities say a non-functioning grenade was found near a hotel on Temple University's campus in north Philadelphia, leading to an evacuation of the area before the device was taken away by the city police department's bomb squad. Police were contacted by Temple Police around 5:30 p.m. Sunday after the device was found. The university issued an alert to student and faculty around 5:55 p.m. to avoid the area around the Conwell Inn, before issuing an all-clear notice 12 minutes later.

Dance students from throughout the region gathered at the Painted Bride Arts Center in Philadelphia Sunday for the first annual Youth Dance Fest. More than 100 pre-professional dancers were there to perform a variety of disciplines. Countless hours of hard work went into practice and training, which made showtime that much more special. Many of the dancers say they hope to pursue a career in the industry after they graduate high school.

James Rebhorn, the prolific character actor in “Homeland,” ”Scent of a Woman” and “My Cousin Vinny,” died Friday at his home in New Jersey. In five decades of television and film work, Rebhorn amassed more than 100 credits, ranging from a shipping magnate in “The Talented Mr. Ripley” to the prosecutor in the series finale of “Seinfeld,” and on “Homeland,” he played the father of CIA officer Carrie Mathison. James Rebhorn was 65.
