No Private Meeting with Pope, Brick Assault Suspects in Custody, Temple Replaces Spring Fling

There will be no private meeting with the Pope. Governor Corbett, Mayor Nutter and Archbishop Chaput are in Rome and hoped to meet privately with the Pope and try to convince him to come to Philadelphia next year for the World Meeting of Families. Instead, they hope to have a brief conversation with the Pope at a public meeting in St. Peter's Square.

Several girls are now in custody in connection with the brick attack on three female Temple students Friday evening. Yesterday police released surveillance video of the suspects. Five girls between the ages of 14 and 17 have been interviewed by police and will likely be charged. One witness says the girls asked her if she wanted to join their flash mob.

Temple University has announced an alternative to its annual Spring Fling. Cherry-On Experience Day will feature music, food, and laser tag. Cherry-On Experience Day will be an alcohol free event Saturday, April 12th on Geasy Field from 4 to 8 pm. Last year at Spring Fling, a 19 year old visiting West Chester student fell to her death while partying on the roof of an off campus row house.
