Philadelphia City Council voted unanimously to ban use of electronic cigarettes in public places. They voted 15-0 to treat electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) the same way that tobacco products are treated. The e-cigs, which only produce a vapor when used, would be banned from public places like restaurants, bars, public buildings, and even some outdoor spaces like parks. Supporters of e-cigs toted their smoking cessation use, as well reports that show no harmful chemicals in the odorless vapor. Councilman Bill Greenlee, who sponsored the bill, said they should err on the side of caution. Mayor Nutter still has to sign the bill and its counterpart that would restrict sales to minors. It would go in effect July 1.

A high speed police chase ended in a shooting leaving one man dead along the Atlantic City strip earlier this afternoon. The chase began in Pleasantville, NJ around 12:30 PM. After leading police through several towns the pursuit ended in Atlantic City at the foot of the AC Expressway. The shooting occurred in the 2100 block of Atlantic Avenue near Arkansas Ave. at around 1:00 p.m. Thursday. The suspect got out of his vehicle. He exchanged gunfire with police and was shot and killed. No police officers were injured. The Atlantic City Prosecutors Office is investigating.

According to reports, the Eagles have a reached a deal with QB Mark Sanchez. The Eagles were one of several teams looking at the 27-year-old once he was released from the Jets last week. Eagles' head coach Chip Kelly talked positively about Sanchez last week at the NFL meetings Orlando, describing how our offense depends on depth at that position. Sanchez did not play last year due to a shoulder injury. He underwent a team physical today.

Tonight
