Suspect Fires on Philly Police, Mantua Man Dies in Cambodia, Corbett Health Plan

Philadelphia police have apprehended a suspect who opened fire on them overnight at 69th and Walnut in Upper Darby. The suspect had been driving erratically. When he was pulled over, the man fled on foot after firing shots and dropping the gun, but the police did not return fire and were able to catch up with him. The suspect has an active arrest warrant for a prior violent crime. No injuries were reported.

A Gloucester County New Jersey man died last weekend while travelling with a friend in Cambodia. Twenty-nine year old James Hart Jr. from Mantua died of heart attack in a Cambodian hospital a few hours after collapsing in the street. His body was not preserved because the morgue lacked refrigeration. Hart was cremated Tuesday and his remains will be flown home.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett says he is getting close to making a decision on whether or not to pull the plug on his proposal to offer health insurance for hundreds of thousands of uninsured Pennsylvanians. Negotiating with the federal government on details of the plan, Corbett says he’s “starting to feel like a yo-yo.” Under Corbett’s “Healthy PA” proposal individuals earning less than $16,105 or a family of four earning less than $32,913 would be eligible for coverage.
