Freefall Adventure Skydiving Accident, $50k Target Robbery, NJ Marijuana Rally on 4/20

A man in Gloucester County, New Jersey died Sunday afternoon from injuries suffered during a skydiving accident. The parachuter was injured after jumping from a plane that had departed from Freefall Adventure. The 49-year-old diver – identified as Arkady Shenker — reportedly landed in an open area on Tuckahoe Road in Monroe Township. Described as an experienced skydiver, he was said to be wearing a special parachute that allowed him to move forward while descending.

Police say a significant amount of money was taken from a Target store on the Roosevelt Boulevard during an armed robbery Saturday night. Police are searching for three suspects they say stole the cash — totaling as much as $50,000 — out of at least five registers at the store. The suspects are described as black males, all wearing fake beards, dark-colored hoodies and clothes.

Dozens of activists and community members gathered at the steps of the New Jersey Statehouse to show their support for legalizing marijuana. Sunday’s rally was among many held nationwide to mark the traditional pot holiday of April 20, a day for marijuana activists to defiantly light up to protest the drug being outlawed. The event in Trenton was organized by Ed Forchion, a pro-marijuana activist known as NJ Weedman. Among those in attendance at the rally was Jawara McIntosh, the youngest son of noted Reggae musician and pro-marijuana activist Peter Tosh. McIntosh, performed his father’s song “Legalize It.”
