Widener University in Delaware County was placed on alert this morning after a male shooting victim died just off campus. The alert was sent of just after 11 am by text and email warning employees and students to stay inside. The victim was shot inside his SUV at 12th Street and Melrose in Chester, PA. He continued to drive up Melrose to 14th street where he collapsed out of the vehicle. He died a short time later. The victim was not a student at Widener. The lockdown was lifted at 11:30am. The shooter is still on the loose.

A forest fire in Ocean County, NJ has prompted several evacuations. The forest fire started at about 11:42 a.m. in the Jakes Branch County Park on the border of Beachwood and Berkeley Township in Ocean County. Around 40 homes have been evacuated according to NJ Forest Fire Service. Toms River Intermediate South School has closed early as a precaution and students were taken to Pine Belt Arena in Toms River. This fire has burned around 300 acres. The Forest Service is still fighting a fire in South Jersey at the Edward G. Bevan Fish and Wildlife Management Area that has burned 1500 acres. A Fire Weather Warning has been in place the past few days due to strong winds and low humidity.

UPDATE: 11:49 pm The Ocean County fire is now 100 percent contained and evacuated residents were allowed back in their homes.
