Philadelphia native Jack Ramsay has died. Jack Ramsay played for and then went on to coach the St. Joseph's University men's basketball team from 1955 to 1966. Ramsay became the General Manager of the 76ers and then coached the Sixers to three playoff appearances. Dr. Ramsay went on to coach the Portland Trail Blazers to the 1977 NBA title. He was a broadcaster for the Indiana Pacers, the Miami Heat and ESPN. Ramsay passed away this morning at his home in Naples, Florida. Jack Ramsay was 89.

Comcast has agreed to divest 3.9 million cable TV subscribers in order to complete its $45.2 billion merger with Time Warner Cable. Critics of the merger fear Comcast would have too much control. Divesting 3.9 million subscribers would put Comcast’s pay-TV market share at around 30%.

More than 500 people gathered on the Ben Franklin Parkway yesterday to pay tribute to the six million Jews killed in the Nazi genocide of World War II. It was the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the Monument to the Six Million Jewish Martyrs. The statue was the first in America to pay tribute to victims of the Holocaust.
