Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane is advising recent graduates and others in the job market to be wary of scammers that target people using the internet to find employment. According to the Attorney General, employment schemes are among the most common and oldest forms of consumer fraud. Often the scammers are able to collect contact information through online job boards where the consumer has posted his or her resume.

A worker was electrocuted in Philadelphia’s Parkside neighborhood Wednesday afternoon in the 4100 block of Parkside Avenue. The worker was electrocuted while conducting renovation work on the first floor of a residential apartment building. Police say the worker was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was later pronounced dead.

A Philadelphia Police officer and the son of a reputed mob boss are among 41 people caught up in an alleged insurance fraud operation run out of a South Philadelphia auto body shop. The accused ringleader is a reputed mob associate at the center of a murder-for-hire investigation. District Attorney Seth Williams says 63-year-old Ron Galati used his South Philadelphia auto body shop to file phony insurance claims.

Weather, May 29
