Traffic Around 495 Closure, Rte 30 Lancaster Ave Repair, I Will Listen Day in Philadelphia

The closing of the bridge on I-495 over the Christina River around Wilmington is causing bumper to bumper traffic on I-95 and in neighborhoods around the closures as travelers search for alternate routes. Eight of the bridge's support columns are twisted and tilted making it unsafe for traffic. DelDot says it will be weeks before they have definitive information on the cause of the problem and a potential solution.

A pot-hole infested 5 mile stretch of Lancaster Avenue in Tredyffrin Township has been given “emergency” status by PennDot. The road was not scheduled to be repaired this year, however the effects of this winter pushed this heavily travelled part of Route 30 up the priority list. The area to be repaired runs from Old Eagle School Road to Paoli Pike and will take place over the next 2 months.

The nation’s first #IWillListen Day was held in Love Park yesterday in an effort to fight the stigma surrounding mental illness. More than 400 pledge videos were filmed during the 5 hour event in Philadelphia. On the campaign’s website after each video plays, it notes that one in four Americans is affected by mental illness. In the testimonial videos, people who have been touched by someone with mental illness pledge “I Will Listen.”
