1967---The Monterey Pop Festival begins in Monterey, Calif. In 3 days over 50,000 will see the 1st major appearances of Jimi Hendrix, The Who and Janis Joplin. Also appearing were The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas, Otis Redding, Jefferson Airplane and Buffalo Springfield. They all appeared for free except for Ravi Shankar.
