The Sidney Kimmel Foundation has made a donation of $110 million to Thomas Jefferson University who will rename its medical school the Sidney Kimmel Medical College. The funds will be used to pay for medical school scholarships, attract top faculty and build state of the art medical school facilities.

Rape charges against Robert J. Kerns have been dismissed. The former Montgomery County Republican Party Chairman had been charged with rape and sexual assault last fall by a female employee at his law firm. Instead, District Judge Joann Teyral ordered Kerns to stand trial on counts of aggravated and indecent assault.

Heat advisories are in effect across the Philadelphia area as temperatures push into the 90’s for the second day in a row. The heat and humidity creates a hazard for anyone spending time outdoors today working or playing. Drink plenty of fluids and check on elderly neighbors.
