Rittenhouse Safety Meeting, SEPTA Strike Recourse, Jersey Beaches Among the Cleanest
  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA

In response to the recent attack on a young woman in the Rittenhouse Square area, residents gathered at the 10th Presbyterian Church for a community meeting last night. Safety experts shared advice to walkers suggesting, "Don't walk with your head down. Make eye contact with people as you walk down the street." Philadelphia is considering expanding the SafeCam security camera program.

Regional Rail riders are looking for recourse after the one-day strike that left TrailPass holders unable to use SEPTA to get to their destination. SEPTA will not offer a blanket credit or discount since the work stoppage occurred on a Saturday and affected half of its usual riders. However local offices who sell TrailPasses will attempt to work something out with riders who were inconvenienced.

Beaches in New Jersey and Delaware are among the cleanest in the country. According to studies conducted by the Natural Resources Defense Council, which tests water samples at fresh and salt water beaches, seven Jersey shore beaches and Delaware’s Dewey Beach are among the cleanest. Jersey shore beaches topping the cleanest water list include Stone Harbor, Avalon, Sea Isle, Wildwood Crest, Margate and Point Pleasant Beach.

The Phillies wrap up their series with the Marlins tonight.
