It appears the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City is ready to cash in its chips. Bob McDevitt, President of Unite Here Local 54 says he was notified by Showboat's parent company, Caesars Entertainment that layoff notices were going out on Friday. McDevitt, whose union represents 900 of the casino's 2,100 employees, calls the closing a criminal act on the citizens of Atlantic City.

The Art Museum steps may be getting a makeover. New development plans by renowned architect Frank Gehry call for an expansion of gallery inside and a controversial change to the iconic steps made famous by Sylvester Stallone in the 1976 Oscar winning movie Rocky. Preliminary plans showed the addition of a 24 foot window in the center of the staircase. The final plans are to be revealed July 1st.

Bucks County Commissioners have indefinitely suspended their Human Resources Director for mistakes that cost taxpayers $450,000. Meredith Dolan was let go for “sloppiness and mistakes and failures” that resulted in nearly 40 people improperly receiving county health-care benefits. The District Attorney’s Office has led the year-long investigation.

The Phillies start a four game home series with the Braves tonight.
