A 14 year old boy was swept away from the beach by rip currents in Ocean City on Sunday. The boy was reported missing near 9th Street and the U.S. Coast Guard was alerted. The boy was swimming with friends when all were pulled into the ocean and tossed around. The 14 year old is the only one who did not resurface.

Upper Darby police are searching for a bedroom intruder who has broken into homes of women alone in the Stonehurst section. The latest bedroom intrusion happened Friday night when a 52 year old woman chased the intruder from her home with a baseball bat. The intruder is targeting women who are home alone. Incidents were reported on Seaford and Guilford Roads and Atlantic Avenue.

A 17 year old Yardley girl has won an award from Nickelodeon for her work helping others. Neha Gupta won the TV channel’s HALO Effect award for her Empower Orphans project which aids orphaned and underprivileged children in the Philadelphia region and northern India. Gupta graduated from Pennsbury High School and is headed to Schreyer Honors College at Penn State in the fall.
