Pennsylvania SPCA officers rescued a dog who was choking and tied to a fence in North Philadelphia on Tuesday. The brown and white pitbull was tied using a short cable and electrical tape to a chain link fence surrounding the tennis courts in Awbury Park. The officers have renamed the dog Venus and it is being treated at the PSPCA's Shelter Hospital. There is a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible of the abandonment. http://pspca.org

A 6-week-old baby was left inside a SUV in the Walmart parking lot in Northeast Philadelphia. Police were called to the store on Franklin Mills Boulevard at 6:30 pm Monday. The baby was inside the 2005 Toyota Highlander unattended. The infant's 35-year-old mother arrived as police were attempting the gain access to the vehicle. The baby was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital before being released to the father. The mother was taken to Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit headquarters for questioning. No charges have been filed at this time.

A road rage altercation ended with one man being stabbed in the arm in Collingdale this afternoon. It happened at 3:15 pm at the Sunoco A-Plus mini mart on the 300 block of MacDade Boulevard. When police arrived the one man was bleeding from the left arm. Witnesses said the other man, a black male, fled towards Darby Borough in a silver car and turned onto Staley Ave. Police found the car, a silver Lexus, still running on the dead end street and detained the man and woman walking away from the vehicle. The man, Stanley Williams of Philadelphia, was ID'd by witnesses. He will be charged with Simple Assault, Aggravated Assault, PIC, Prohibited Offensive Weapons, Reckless Endangerment, Harassment and Terroristic Threats. The victim was taken to Delaware County Hospital and is in stable condition. The Lexus was impounded because it had evidence (blood) on it.
