Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene after striking a teen on a bike in Oxford Circle Tuesday night. The teen was riding his bike when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver then drove away from the scene. The teen was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children with a leg injury. Police say they are are searching for a charcoal-colored Nissan Pathfinder that fled southbound on the Boulevard.

This year the federal government expects 60,000 undocumented child immigrants to enter school districts around the country. That is double the number from last year. These children will require extra counseling and English as a second language programs. Pennsylvania schools will have to make room for almost 400 undocumented children this fall. In Delaware more than 100 and in New Jersey, more than 1,500. In all, thats enough to fill nearly 70 classrooms. Despite budget cuts and an $81 million shortfall, Philadelphia School District spokesman Fernando Gallard says the 230 teachers devoted to helping students like these won’t change.

Legendary film star Lauren Bacall has passed away. Bacall had suffered a stroke. She was married to late actor Humphrey Bogart from 1945 until his death in 1957. She is last credited with voicing the character of Evelyn in an episode of Family Guy. Bacall is survived by three adult children. She was 89 years old.
