2003---Sun Studios, Memphis, becomes a National Historic Landmark. It is the 1st recording studio to be so honored. It is open for tours during the day and is still a working studio at night. Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Elvis and Carl Perkins are some of the greats who got started at Sun. Def Leppard, John Mellencamp and Chris Isaak have used the studio to record. If you go on the tour you can sit at the piano Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis played and hold the microphone used by Elvis to record.
