A King of Prussia man was found guilty this afternoon by a Montgomery County jury of the first degree murders of a grandmother and her granddaughter. 28-year-old Raghunandan Yandamuri now faces the death penalty for the 2012 stabbing of 61-year-old Satayrathi Venna and 10-month-old Saanvni Venna. The jury deliberated for 6 hours on Wednesday night before a juror became incapacitated for an unknown reason. Deliberations continued on Thursday with a replacement juror. Yandamuri represented himself during the trial and said two strangers made him do it. Prosecutors say that it was a botched kidnapping-for-ransom, that Raghu hoped to pay off gambling debts by kidnapping Saanvi, and that he killed the grandmother because she was a witness. It happened in the Marquis Apartments in King of Prussia. The case now goes to the penalty phase.

Upper Darby Police have identified a suspect wanted for a stabbing inside a bar early Thursday. They are looking for Miguel Escalon of the 7000 block of Guilford Road in Upper Darby. It happened just after midnight inside the La Cantina bar in the 6800 block of Market Street. Escalon stabbed Wilson Zunija Aquirre in the neck after a dispute. An Upper Darby police officer was able to take some towels from behind the bar and apply pressure to the victim's wound. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition. Escalon is considered armed and dangerous. Both the suspect and victim are in the country illegally.

An accident on the southbound New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County this afternoon involving a single SUV injured 4 of the 5 occupants. The crash happened around 1:00 pm just south of Exit 5 in Westhampton. The driver of the Hyundai Santa Fe lost control of the vehicle and it overturned in the woods off to the side of the highway. There were two adults and three children aboard. A child and an adult were airlifted to the hospital. Two others were taken away by ambulance. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Tonight,
Partly cloudy, temperatures in the low 60s this evening in Center City.
