University of Pennsylvania doctor, Trish Henwood, is preparing to leave the states to help fight Ebola in Liberia on Thursday morning. This humanitarian has been involved previously with non-profit groups to advocate for good health standards. She will be working just outside the capital of Liberia.

Southwest Philly witnessed two separate shootings Tuesday evening, both resulting in deaths. Each man was taken to the University of Pennsylvania and shortly pronounced dead after arrival. No information is known about the motive or suspects involved in either case.

A proposal for a bill to help fight the abuse of prescription narcotics was taken to the House yesterday and received a large positive vote. The bill will allow pharmacists and doctors to have access to a drug-dispensing database containing information about patients who try to get narcotic prescriptions from more than one doctor. The bill is continuing to be amended.

Sports:
The Eagles have the weekend off and the flyers will be playing at Dallas, Saturday at 8.

Weather:
Mostly cloudy with occasional showers, low 70’s in center city.
