The Rothman Ice Rink at Dilworth Park next to City Hall in Philadelphia officially opened this afternoon. It's the final piece to be shown in the revamping of the former Dilworth Plaza. The rink replaces the fountains and tables of the warmer weather. This rink features real ice tended by a real Zamboni so the skate is nice and smooth. It's also a decent size if you are looking to get some laps in. Rental skates are available for $8 and I hear they are 'new'. All skill levels are welcome. There is even a Learn-to-Skate program offered on Sunday morning. Adults $4, Children, 10 and under $3. Open now through February 22nd. 3 to 9p M-Th, 3-11p F, 11a-11p Sa and 11a-9p Su. For more information visit: http://www.ccdparks.org/dilworth-park/rothmanicerink

Five adults have been arrested in Darby, Delaware County, for the physical and sexual abuse of five children, ages 1-12, over the course of several months. William Wade, 23; Danielle Hammond, 22; Shakia Jackson, 31; Daryl Carter, 24 and Mark Isom, 22 are facing a number of charges, including endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, simple assault, and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. The two women are the mothers of the five children involved. The defendants would have sex in front of the children while the kids were watching television. They would beat, kick, and throw the children, even shoot them with BBs as discipline. Wade and Carter are also accused of forcing Hammond to perform oral sex on a 2-year-old boy. The investigation into the assaults began in June. Everything took place at a home on 7th Street near Cedar Avenue in Darby.

Delvin Barnes, the accused Germantown kidnapper, appeared in court Friday for a brief hearing. Barnes plead not guilty and agreed to pre-trial detention by not seeking bail. In the pre-trial detention motion, prosecutors revealed that 22-year-old Carlesha Freeland-Gaither was "forced to lie bound and cold in the trunk of the defendant's car." She was freed three days after she was abducted by authorities when Barnes and his vehicle were found in Jessup, MD. Barnes is facing a life sentence if convicted. He is also facing charges in Virginia for kidnapping a 16-year-old girl and trying to kill her. Barnes will be prosecuted for those charges after this case in Philadelphia. He is being held in the Federal Center.
