A Center City lawyer has been charged for having sex with a 14-year-old girl on several occasions at his downtown office. The girl was being held captive in a sex-trafficking ring at a home in Germantown in March 2012. District Attorney Seth Williams said that 56-year-old attorney Brian Meehan would pay to have her sent to his office where he would engage in sexual acts with her and give her alcohol. He is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corrupting the morals of a minor, indecent assault, promoting prostitution of a minor, and patronizing prostitutes for sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl. The Germantown couple who held her captive have also been charged. The girl was sold to another pimp in the summer of 2012 before turning up in Georgia. She was able to give investigators detailed descriptions of her encounters with Meehan.

The day after the grand jury decision in Ferguson, MO, hundreds of people here in Philadelphia continued to protest this afternoon. Protests started around noon at the Federal Courthouse. Later at around 3 p.m., different groups gathered around City Hall before marching north on Broad Street. The protesters stopped once they reached Temple University at Broad Street and Cecil B. Moore Ave where they held a rally around 4:30pm. The group had grown to around 500. After moving back south, protesters stopped again in front of the 9th District Police headquarters near 21st and Hamilton. They awaited the release of two protesters arrested on Monday before moving back to City Hall. The march continued west on Walnut St. and stopped again in Rittenhouse Square before 10:00 p.m. The day ended with pizza being delivered for everyone in the park. The protests here in Philadelphia have been mostly peaceful and Mayor Nutter has praised the police and protesters for how they've handled themselves.

Pennsylvania State Police are now treating the disappearance of 33-year-old Jessica Padgett as a criminal case. Padgett, a mother of three, never returned to work at the Duck Duck Goose Daycare in Northampton Borough on Friday at lunchtime after going out to run some errands. Her white Subaru Outback was found at the General Dollar store in Northampton. Family and friends have begun to hand out fliers and search. No one can think of a reason she'd just leave, and everyone just wants Jessica to be found safe. She is described as white female, 5'2" tall, 130 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. She was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the daycare's logo. Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Pennsylvania State Police at 610-861-2026.
